Hadas Sofer Shabtai

Hadas Sofer Shabtai is a doctoral candidate at Tel Aviv University's Graduate School of History in Middle Eastern and African Studies and a lecturer in The Department of Middle Eastern and African History at Tel Aviv University. She is also Co-Editor of BeeHive: Middle East Social Media and an Assistant Editor of Tzomet HaMizrach HaTichon. She has completed her thesis on the life and writings of the prominent Iraqi intellectual, Dr. ‘Ali al-Wardi (1914-1995). Her Ph.D. dissertation, titled History and Memory in 20th century Iraq: The 1958 Qassim Revolution, is an attempt to explore questions of identity, ideological currents, and the cohesion of the state through the struggle over the memory of the July Revolution in Modern Iraq.
